Lunch

So the student adviser from IFSA-Butler wanted to check in with us and make sure we all had done course approval for our papers and had met our flat mates so he took us all out to lunch. We went to Speights Ale House. Speights is a brand of beer that is brewed in New Zealand and there is a large brewery in Dunedin. They are in the process of bringing down all of the brewing equipment from Christchurch to here because of the earthquake that happened a few years ago. I was not able to go on the brewery tour today but it is on my to-do list before I leave Dunedin.

Here is a picture of the part of the brewery they are expanding to add the equipment from Christchurch.

So lunch was a three course meal. The first course was the entree (appetizer). The options were tomato, bacon, garlic soup; ocean chowder (it had all kinds of seafood in it); or a loaf of bread. I had the loaf of bread. It was a marbled bread with garlic butter but there was no flavor difference between the two types of bread.  Here are picture of it:

For the main course I had roasted lamb with mashed potatoes and salad. Some of the other ones were fish and chips, steak, and bacon wrapped chicken. Everyone who ordered lamb could only eat one piece of the lamb and took the other home.

After all of this food there was dessert. My end of the table each ordered a different dessert so we could all share because each one of them sounded so good.

This is the berry meringue topped with ice cream and whipped cream.

This is the mud cake sitting in hot fudge and topped with ice cream and whipped cream.

Our student adviser was sitting with all of the girls and was making fun of us when we all took pictures of each other's food and were calling it "food porn". He said he had never heard of it and just shook is head when we explained what it was. It is just pictures of really good looking food.

Because I couldn't finish the lamb I was able to get a take-away box and take it home for another meal this week. My favorite part about the take away box is the warning on it about having to make sure it is out of the danger zone. My friends were trying to figure out what 4 degrees C is and I told them right away that is was 40 degrees F because of all of the food safety class about the danger zone. Food safety for the win!!!
Here is the picture of it:

So this will probably be the only post about the food I eat because the rest of the time I am eating PB&J sandwiches or pasta.
