Naseby Take 2

Sunday I got up really early to head to Naseby again. We tried to go the weekend before but the roads were too bad that we couldn't make it. We stopped at St. Bathans which used to be a mining town during the gold rush in NZ. The lake there, Blue Lake, is supposed to be a very bright blue but was a brown colour the day we went because of all of the recent rainfall. The lake is surrounded by really pretty white cliffs. I kinda wish I knew more about rocks to tell you more about them but I don’t. So you can just look at how pretty they are.

We got back in the bus and went back up the gravel road and headed to Naseby. We all had about an hour to kill between going on the luge and curling and waiting for others to do the activities, so during this time I went ice skating.  I was my first time ice skating outdoors and it was really fun. There was an added challenge of having to avoid the spots where the rink was starting to melt. There were also chairs you could skate with so we took turns pushing each other in the chair and riding in the chairs ourselves. After skating we went on the luge. I seemed to crash almost every run. It was a lot of fun. We were offered an extra sandwich to go the farthest up the hill at the end (which means you had a clean run) or a cookie for best crash. The people I was with were going best crash. Whenever Josh was around we seemed to crash right in front of him which made for nice video. I did not hurt myself while doing this even with all of the crashes J.  The last thing we did was curling. I spent most of my time laughing during this because it is very much a social sport (or at least for us it is). It is very hard to put the correct amount of power into the stone for it to go. Most of us either had way too much or way too little. I did both because I would try to fix one extreme by going to the other. We did not score very high during our game. Also at the curling rink was a national U-18 (I think, it might have been U-20) curling tournament. They were very good and we were not. After this we headed back to Dunedin where I went to bed really early.
